The Niseko Residence is located in Annupuri village just outside of Hirafu. The concept is developed by optimizing the balance between privacy and maximizing the view towards mount Yotei.

A public road that runs along the north-west side provides access to the Niseko Residence. The elegant wooden louver screens facing this public road are allowing sufficient daylight to enter without jeopardizing its privacy.  The south-east side of the building is facing mount Yotei. Here the views are maximized by create a large glazed surface facing the forest in front and mount Yotei in the back. A smart beam pattern breaks the large glass façade into the right proportions increasing its density for areas with more privacy and opens up when maximal view is required.

A simple materials pallet of wood, steel and concrete is used for the exterior and interiors creating a refined modern balance between the light and dark colored materials.
